Although Deanna and I had planned on this little weekend excursion for probably at least a month (and it was on the kitchen calendar), I apparently forgot to tell Scott. He "found out" about our plans last Tuesday when the three of us were sweating sitting together at a volleyball scrimmage. I guess he was completely successful in tuning out the multiple conversations Ella and I had that started with "on our trip to the beach", "when we get to Pismo", "I CAN'T WAIT TO GO!", etc. All he heard was waaa waaa waaa waaa waaaaaa - like Charlie Brown's teacher. Anyway, Scott was a trooper who worked Saturday, took the dogs to the park, mowed the grass, etc., while his women folk froliced in the surf (I actually never touched the water).
We left Friday about noon and drove straight to our no-tell-motel in Pismo . . . no messing around. Deanna knew of the perfect cheap motel right on the beach. Maybe not quite so perfect in that the girls had to explain to the hyper chatty woman at the front desk WHY 4 females required more than the standard 4 towels, and we each had 1 wafer-thin pillow. Other than that . . . perfect.
We unpacked, did some shopping, had dinner at sunset at a restaurant I can't remember the name, and hung out at the beach that night. So fun.
We played frisbee and I did a little surfing.
Jillian was Ella's personal beauty consultant the whole weekend.
Saturday morning we had breakfast and all had massages! Head to toe, with extra attention on the toes! HEAVEN :)
The fish at the massage place greeted you.
The girls did more shopping while Deanna and I hit the beach chairs with magazines. We took showers and walked the pier. Then we had fabulous cracked crab dinner at the Cracked Crab . . . SO FUN!
Then we were off for an evening at the local pool hall . . . classy! Ella and Jillian had never played pool before. Deanna and I totally looked like old pros and dazzled onlookers with our skills. And air hockey . . . I LOVE air hockey. :)
Sunday we briefly checked out Arroyo Grande looking for a farmers market that no longer exists, had a great breakfast at Brad's and went to SLO for . . . more shopping.
Now we're home. Scott held down the fort nicely and was all smiles. The pug was excited to see us. It's not too hot.
Thank you Deanna and Jillian for the great trip. You're the perfect travel companions - not high maintenance! (I hate high maintenance!!!) You're the perfect Thelma to our Louise. :)
