Ella met Ryan at Clovis High for a Saturday workout. A super-duper, butt kicking, extra sweaty workout. I came along to take some pictures and had to HOP A FENCE . . . twice. Not something I excel at anymore. That wasn't pretty.
Anyway . . . their workout. These kids are in shape!
They first started with "ladders". Many, many reps of ladders.
The ladders would have been it for me (who am I kidding . . . hopping the fence was it for me!). But then they went on to timed sprints with the parachute. They did many, many reps of the sprints.
She ends with a flourish!
He's a serious sprinter.
By now I was a sweaty mess just sitting on the sidelines in the partial shade (97 today, with NO wind . . . probably hotter on the baseball field). But they weren't even close to done.
On to the "bear crawls", which involves push ups, crawling on all fours like an orangutan to the next cone, push ups, then backwards orangutans. They did many, many reps of these. Killer!
How is it possible to be laughing when you're miserable? I guess it pays to stay in shape! They don't seem to mind the heat . . . while I desperately try to squeeze my fat arss into the only square foot of shade on the field.
The final piece of their workout is to do 'home runs", which are sprints around the entire field - not just the bases, like you'd think. A total of 3 sprinting laps around the field. I left on their first 1/4 lap. I had a fence to hop . . . and that was going to take some time. And it was just too flipping hot!!
I'm really proud of our athletes. They probably spent 2 hours on the field working out and sweating like pigs. Oh, and they're going to start over on their "Insanity" workout (the additional nightly workout they're doing that lasts 2 months), which was interrupted by both of them having their wisdom teeth pulled in the past few weeks.
One more week of vacation, and they're back to school. Back to a schedule that helps me feel grounded. Registration is Monday, along with daily volleyball practices starting up again. Good times!
